This story is my real life at the moment. Fantasy meets Reality…This is a story where I am one of the main characters and Mike Rowe is my co-star. It is a two person act…the third being the one who lands the quilt made from these jeans…
They are on their way…
This is the original post I did :
Dear Mike Rowe,
As you can see by this page, I dabble in Quilts. A great part-time job to supplement my income from my real job of cutting hair @ Magic Touch & Her Gardens. I am not in a position to donate money or buy any of your C.R.A.P., but I could make a Rag Quilt out of your jeans, I even can include stains… Bet it would net you a few grand for Mike Rowe Works. Let me know what you think! It would be my honor~ Judy
Offering to make a quilt out of his jeans to auction off for his Foundation mikeroweWorks – knowing how many women would love the opportunity to get (in) Mike Rowe’s pants, myself included of course – in the hopes of it netting a few grand.
I waited…..and waited….How could he refuse such an offer? and I waited some more…
Found out you cannot post to a page from another page…I learn something new everyday!
About 3 weeks later I posted again…in my name to Mike’s wall.
Seriously Mike Rowe,
Send me 6 pair of your used jeans and I will make a quilt from them, and I will throw in a few Garden Aprons….
He responded!
Remember me? I am still waiting to get (in) your pants…

You go, Girl!
I am so proud of you for coming up with this idea! You are very inspiring!!!
I’m hoping this opens up many doors for you…
Best of luck!
(And yes, I’d LOVE to own it! I’ll be watching the outcome!!)

You lucky, lucky girl. So many of us would love to get (in) Mike Rowe’s pants, and you did it! LOL Though I too cannot afford any of Mike’s C.R.A.P., I look forward to seeing the quilt you make of the denim that once hugged Mike’s butt.
Hey Judy, just came across this on FB…..I had the opportunity to meet the one and only Mike Rowe when he filmed at a Philly business years ago. Very nice person, his crew are just as nice, I can’t tell you how excited I was to meet them all. He was even given a company shirt, with his name, embroidered by little Ole me, from Phoenixville. Have fun, maybe you will get to meet him.
Judy – what a great idea. You are totally awesome!
Rock on, Judy! I’m a novice quilter myself and it never occurred to me to do something like this. Now I just wish it had. Quilting Mike’s jeans would be an honor indeed. Of course, I’ve always been scared to try the jean quilts because I have a memory of my mom wrecking a couple of sewing machines making jean picture quilts years ago.
Since he stated on his FB page (https://www.facebook.com/TheRealMikeRowe/photos/a.151342491542569.29994.116999698310182/964784916864985/?type=1&theater) he’s sent more than the 6 requested pairs of jeans, I am thinking it will be highly tempting to auction them off to the highest bidders (whether online or in person, and do with the money what you will), and tempting to keep at least one pair for yourself, just so you can actually BE in Mike Rowe’s Pants (whether arm, leg or torso) 😉
Happy Sewing!!
