Getting (in) Mike Rowe’s Pants
The waiting is over. (I will be making a Denim Rag Quilt from Mike Rowe’s pants to be auctioned to the highest bidder to benefit mikeroweWORKS!)
Mike Rowe’s ‘package’ has arrived!
And what an impressive ‘package’ it is….13 pounds of goodness
Would you have expected anything less?
A black garbage bag containing Mike’s pants and a hand written note…
‘Cant wait to see what you do with these. Regardless, its an honor to have you in my pants.’
Trust me Mike, The honor is surely mine…
I received 8 pair of pants. There will be 6 Garden Aprons, 1 Lap Quilt, 1 miniature quilt (for Freddy,) and 1 Tool Caddy.
Although I must admit, there was jumping up and down when Mike first responded to my post back in January…I since have resorted to gloating…and of course Chase had to get in it.
Obviously I am not as good at selfies as Mike…but here is maybe my first ever…and very well could be the last.
Please allow me to tell you how honored I am to be given the chance to use one of my gifts to contribute to mikeroweWORKS!

Love the comfort that quilts provide and have a lot of old treasured jeans can’t wait to see your instructions on this. Loved the phone call that mike posted with you on FB. Your one lucky gal to have gotten into his jeans!
Hi Judy! I have been following this story…I love Mike, and have to say I’m a little jealous you got (in) his pants! I just watching his video of all the goodies you created and I was astounded! The last time I cut up jeans for a quilt, I cut out the squares and I tossed the rest! I have been watching the Ebay auction and all I can say is WOW! Thanks for helping with a great organization!
THAT. IS. AWESOME!!! Congrats and I can’t wait to see the finished products!! Hope they raise a ton for the mikeroweWORKS foundation!
im looking forward to watching your quilting project as a fellow quilter and blogger and fan of Mike Rowe and his foundation…
Your selfie is excellent and the gloating and excitement are all in appropriate measure.

I will be sure to check out your stuff Sue…
This project, by far, has provided me with incredible inspiration…and I am getting (in) Mike Rowe’s pants…
What more could a girl ask for?
I saw the picture regarding making a Jean quilt and the jeans that you received from Mike Rowe. What an awesome thing that he did and you for making the quilt to be auctioned off for charity. I have five granddaughters, all by my daughter and her husband who both served in the US Navy. (One granddaughter is an angel in heaven after passing away of SIDS in 1996 but she is always in my heart). My daughter will be retiring (20 years) from the Navy on 4/10/2015. My husband and I are going up to Virginia for Easter with the grandkids and for the Military Retirement Ceremony for her. I am going to see if I can get some of my granddaughters old jeans and try to make a jean quilt for each of them (perhaps a Christmas gift). I have never made one before. Could you show the back side of the jean quilt. I am trying to figure out how to make it. Thank you for letting me share my daughters retirement story and thank you for sharing the “Mike Rowe” jean story. Take care and looking forward to seeing the finished product.
Thank you Yvonne for sharing. While I am making the quilt I will be giving detail on the construction. I hope I can make it easy to follow. If you have any questions about the process, feel free to ask. I should be posted within the next few days. I have the aprons done. I will be making the lap quilt later today…A quilt made by you from your granddaughters clothes will provide endless comfort for you and your family…<3
